World Teachers Day
In short
World Teachers' Day is an annual global event celebrated on 5 October to honour the work of educators and improve teaching conditions.
In plain words
It is a special day to say thank you to teachers everywhere. It helps people think about how to support schools and make sure every child gets a good education.
A simple example
Schools might hold special assemblies or give small gifts to staff to show appreciation. Local governments often use the day to announce new funding for classrooms.
Why it matters
Teachers are essential for a functioning society and a strong economy. Recognising them helps ensure that the teaching profession remains respected and well-resourced.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this with Teacher Appreciation Week, which is a local event held on different dates in various countries.
