Who is Christoph Waltz?
In short
Christoph Waltz is a famous Austrian actor who is well known for his roles in many Hollywood films. He has won two Academy Awards for his acting.
In plain words
He is a highly skilled performer who often plays characters that are very clever, charming, or sometimes quite scary. Although he was born in Austria, he became a massive star in the United States after appearing in several major movies directed by Quentin Tarantino.
A simple example
You might recognise him as the villainous Hans Landa in the film Inglourious Basterds, where he uses his calm voice to sound both polite and threatening at the same time.
Why it matters
He is important because he showed that actors from non-English speaking countries can become huge stars in the global film industry. His unique way of speaking and his intense acting style have influenced many modern films.
Easy to mix up
People sometimes confuse him with other European actors who play similar types of sophisticated villains, but his specific accent and precise way of moving make him very easy to spot once you know him.
