Who is Ashton Jeanty?
In short
Ashton Jeanty is a famous American college football player who plays as a running back. He is currently one of the best players in the United States for his university.
In plain words
In American football, a running back is a player whose main job is to take the ball and run forward to gain ground. Jeanty is known for being very fast, very strong, and very difficult for the other team to stop. He plays for Boise State University and has become a star because he scores many points and helps his team win games.
A simple example
Imagine a game where the team has the ball and needs to get close to the goal line to score. Jeanty takes the ball from the quarterback, dodges several defenders, and runs through a small gap to reach the end zone.
Why it matters
He matters because he is a top candidate to win major awards, such as the Heisman Trophy, which is given to the best player in college football. His performance helps his team compete at a high level and makes him a person that professional teams in the NFL will want to hire in the future.
Easy to mix up
People sometimes mix up running backs with wide receivers. While both players catch or carry the ball to score, a wide receiver usually runs long routes to catch passes, whereas Jeanty's main role is to carry the ball while running through the middle of the field.
