Video Videos
In short
A video vixen is a female model who appears in hip-hop music videos and live performances.
In plain words
These women often act as visual highlights in rap and R&B videos. Many are professional models or aspiring performers looking to build their careers in the entertainment industry.
A simple example
A dancer or model appearing alongside a rapper in a high-budget music video to enhance the visual style.
Why it matters
The role became a major cultural trend from the 1990s to the early 2010s. However, it has faced criticism regarding how it portrays women of colour in media.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this specific role with a general music video extra or a background dancer.
