Unter Uns
In short
Unter uns is a long-running German soap opera that has been broadcasting on RTL since November 1994. The story follows the daily lives of residents living in a fictional street in Cologne.
In plain words
It is a television drama that shows the problems and joys of different families. Most of the stories focus on the Weigel family, who run a local bakery. It is one of the longest-running shows of its kind in Germany.
A simple example
A typical episode might follow a member of the Weigel family dealing with a romantic breakup or a struggle at the bakery.
Why it matters
The show is significant because it was one of the first daily soaps on RTL. It has maintained a loyal audience for over three decades, reaching more than 7,000 episodes.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with Verbotene Liebe, which is another German soap opera but follows different characters and themes.
