Tierkreiszeichen
In short
The twelve symbols used in astrology to represent the positions of the sun and planets throughout the year. They are often used in horoscopes to predict personality traits or daily events.
In plain words
People use these signs to categorise human character based on when they were born. Each sign is linked to a specific period of the year and a particular animal or object.
A simple example
If a person is born in late March, their zodiac sign is Aries. This is used in daily horoscopes to suggest how their day might go.
Why it matters
Astrology remains a popular way for people to seek guidance or understand their personalities. Some luxury brands even use these signs to create special limited-edition products.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse zodiac signs with the Chinese zodiac, which is based on a twelve-year cycle of animals.
