Stock Markets
In short
A collection of buyers and sellers trading shares that represent ownership in companies. These trades happen on public exchanges or through private platforms.
In plain words
It is a marketplace for business ownership. People buy small pieces of companies called stocks to try and make money as the business grows.
A simple example
If you buy one share of a technology company, you own a tiny part of that business. If the company becomes more valuable, your share price usually goes up.
Why it matters
It allows companies to raise money to grow and expand. It also gives regular people a way to build wealth by investing in successful businesses.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse a stock market with a commodities market, which trades raw materials like gold or oil instead of company shares.
