Steam Free Games Weekend Promotion
In short
Facepunch Studios has made its new sandbox project, s&box, temporarily free to play on Steam this weekend. The developer has also reduced the base price of the title.
In plain words
A popular game developer is giving away their new game for free for a short time. This allows players to try the new platform without paying. They have also made the permanent price cheaper for everyone else.
A simple example
Instead of paying for s&box, a player can download and play it for nothing during this specific weekend promotion.
Why it matters
This helps more people discover the new platform, which is intended to be a successor to Garry's Mod. It builds a larger community of creators and players early in the game's life.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this with a general Steam sale where many different games are discounted at once.
