Snl Last Night
In short
The latest episode featured host Shane Gillis, whose monologue regarding women's gym outfits sparked significant controversy and social media backlash. Digital creator Druski is also reported to be set to make history as the first digital creator to host the show this November.
In plain words
The show caused a stir because the host made jokes that many people found offensive. Meanwhile, news broke that a famous social media comedian will host soon. This marks a major shift for the long-running programme.
A simple example
Shane Gillis's monologue about gym clothing led to former cast member Ego Nwodim publicly mocking his jokes. Additionally, fans reacted strongly after Travis Kelce liked the controversial video on Instagram.
Why it matters
The episode highlights the tension between traditional comedy and modern social standards. It also signals a change in how the show selects hosts by moving towards internet-famous creators.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this specific episode's controversy with the previous Elon Musk Wario skit controversy.
