Rte
In short
Raidió Teilifís Éireann is Ireland's national public service broadcaster, providing television, radio, and online content.
In plain words
It is the main organisation that makes and shows programmes for the Irish public. It runs several radio stations and TV channels from its headquarters in Dublin.
A simple example
A person in Dublin might watch a news report on RTÉ One or listen to a music programme on RTÉ Radio 1.
Why it matters
It plays a vital role in Irish culture by providing news, education, and entertainment funded by the public. It ensures that Irish voices and stories are shared across the country.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with RTE, which is the acronym for the same organisation, or other European broadcasters like the BBC.
