Playstation 5 Midnight Black
In short
Sony is releasing a Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Digital Edition exclusively in Japan on 19 November 2026. The console is priced at 55,000 yen, which is approximately $350.
In plain words
This is a special all-black version of the PS5 that does not have a built-in disc drive. It is only being sold in Japan and uses the Japanese language for its system menus. You can buy a matching disc drive separately if you need one.
A simple example
A gamer in Japan can buy this black console for 55,000 yen, but someone in the UK would need a Japanese PlayStation account to use it properly.
Why it matters
It offers a cheaper entry point into the PS5 ecosystem at $350 compared to standard models. However, regional restrictions and language locks make it difficult for international buyers to use.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this with a standard global PS5 release; it is a Japan-only model with specific regional software restrictions.
