Oled Tv
In short
An OLED TV uses organic compounds that glow when electricity passes through them to create an image. Unlike standard screens, each individual pixel produces its own light.
In plain words
Most TVs use a big backlight to shine through a screen. In an OLED TV, every tiny dot on the screen is its own light bulb. This means they can turn completely off to show perfect black colours.
A simple example
When watching a film set in space, an OLED TV turns the pixels in the dark areas completely off. This makes the stars look bright and the black sky look truly pitch black.
Why it matters
It provides much better contrast and colour than traditional LED TVs. This makes movies and games look more realistic and lifelike.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse OLED with QLED, which still uses a backlight and cannot achieve the same perfect blacks.
