Nintendo Switch Zelda 40th Anniversary
In short
Nintendo has released a special 40th anniversary edition of the Switch 2 to celebrate The Legend of Zelda series. The console has seen high demand, with recent stock restocks occurring at the Nintendo Store and some retailers facing order errors.
In plain words
This is a limited edition gaming console themed after the Zelda franchise. To celebrate the milestone, Nintendo also released free Zelda-themed items for Animal Crossing players.
A simple example
Players can download a free Triforce Tee and Korok Umbrella in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to mark the occasion.
Why it matters
The release marks four decades of one of gaming's most famous series. It also highlights the high collector value of special edition hardware, as seen by the rapid stock fluctuations and retailer mistakes.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse the special edition Switch 2 hardware with the free digital items released for Animal Crossing.
