New Zealand Breakers
In short
The New Zealand Breakers are a professional men's basketball team based in Auckland that competes in Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). They are currently the only non-Australian team participating in the league.
In plain words
This is a top-level basketball club from New Zealand. Even though they are a Kiwi team, they play in the Australian league. They often play their big matches at Spark Arena in Auckland.
A simple example
When the Breakers play a home game, fans travel to Spark Arena in Auckland to watch them compete against Australian clubs like the Sydney Kings.
Why it matters
They represent New Zealand in a major international sporting competition. Their history includes a famous three-year winning streak between 2011 and 2013.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse them with the New Zealand Tall Blacks, which is the national team rather than a professional club.
