Nba Opening Night
In short
The 2026 NBA season begins tonight with high-profile matchups including the Golden State Warriors against the Los Angeles Lakers. Teams are currently finalising their rosters, such as the Warriors confirming a $9M veteran trio for their opening game.
In plain words
This is the first set of regular season games for the professional basketball league. It marks the official start of the new season after the preseason period.
A simple example
Fans can watch the New York Knicks take on the Philadelphia 76ers, with courtside tickets still available for purchase.
Why it matters
It sets the tone for the entire season and determines the initial standings. It is also the final deadline for teams to settle their player rosters.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse Opening Night with the NBA Finals, which is the championship series at the end of the season.
