Komando Pasukan Khusus
In short
Komando Pasukan Khusus, commonly known as Kopassus, is the elite special forces unit of the Indonesian Army.
In plain words
They are highly trained soldiers who carry out secret or dangerous missions. This includes fighting terrorists, gathering intelligence, and performing sabotage to protect the country.
A simple example
A Kopassus team might be sent into a remote jungle to rescue hostages held by a rebel group.
Why it matters
They are a vital part of Indonesia's national security and defence. Their ability to handle unconventional warfare makes them a key force in regional stability.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse them with other Indonesian special forces like Kopaska, which belongs to the Navy.
