Kepolisian Daerah Kepulauan Riau
In short
The Kepulauan Riau Regional Police is the provincial law enforcement agency responsible for maintaining order in the Riau Islands province of Indonesia. Recent ceremonies at its headquarters included the traditional Payung Pora farewell for Komjen Pol. Asep Safrudin.
In plain words
This is the main police force for the Riau Islands area. They manage local security, investigate crimes, and follow orders from the national police headquarters. They use traditional ceremonies to honour departing high-ranking officers.
A simple example
When a high-ranking official like the Head of Criminal Investigation leaves the region, the force holds a formal ceremony with ceremonial umbrellas and swords to show respect.
Why it matters
As an island province, this agency is vital for maritime security and regional stability. Their work ensures law and order in a key strategic area of Indonesia.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this with the Banten Regional Police, which is a separate provincial force in a different part of Indonesia.
