Keanu Reeves Netflix Maelstrom Movie
In short
Keanu Reeves has been cast as the lead actor in the upcoming Netflix action thriller Maelstrom, replacing Alan Ritchson. The film is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra.
In plain words
This movie is a high-stakes action film set during a hurricane. It uses a script that was originally written over thirty years ago. The story follows a lone federal marshal trapped in a dangerous storm.
A simple example
Imagine a character similar to John McClane from Die Hard, but fighting against a massive hurricane instead of terrorists.
Why it matters
The project has been in development since 1993, making it a long-awaited production. Casting a major star like Reeves helps turn the old script into a modern blockbuster for Netflix.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this with the John Wick series, although both feature Reeves in intense action roles.
