Jj Mccarthy Giants Debut
In short
J.J. McCarthy recently made his debut for the New York Giants in a tied match against the Washington Commanders. Head coach John Harbaugh has since suggested the quarterback will receive an expanded role in upcoming games.
In plain words
After playing limited minutes in his first game, McCarthy is expected to feature more often. The team plans to use him in specific play packages to give the offence a different look.
A simple example
Instead of playing the whole game, McCarthy might come on for a few specific plays to confuse the defence.
Why it matters
The Giants are looking for ways to improve their offence by using McCarthy as a change-of-pace option behind Jameis Winston. His increased usage could signal a long-term shift in the team's quarterback strategy.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse his role with being the permanent starter, as he is currently playing behind Jameis Winston.
