Itbp
In short
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police is a specialised Indian paramilitary force tasked with guarding the border between India and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
In plain words
This group of officers protects India's high-altitude mountain borders. They work in very cold and difficult terrain to keep the country safe from intruders.
A simple example
An ITBP patrol unit might monitor a remote mountain pass in the Himalayas to ensure no unauthorised crossings occur.
Why it matters
They play a vital role in national security by managing one of the world's most challenging and sensitive border regions. Their presence helps prevent conflict and maintains territorial integrity.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse them with the Border Security Force (BSF), which primarily guards India's borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
