Inec
In short
INEC is the Independent National Electoral Commission in Nigeria, the body responsible for organising and supervising elections.
In plain words
It manages how people vote in Nigeria. The commission sets up polling stations, registers voters, and counts the ballots to announce winners.
A simple example
During a presidential election, INEC officials distribute ballot papers to citizens and ensure the voting process follows the law.
Why it matters
Without a functional INEC, Nigeria cannot hold peaceful or legal transitions of power. It is the backbone of the country's democracy.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with the electoral commissions of other African nations, such as Ghana's EC.
