Ikeja Electric
In short
Ikeja Electric is the largest power distribution company in Nigeria, serving customers across much of Lagos State.
In plain words
This company manages the delivery of electricity to homes and businesses. It took over duties from the old national power company during a privatisation process in 2013.
A simple example
A shop owner in Ikeja pays their monthly electricity bill directly to Ikeja Electric to keep their lights running.
Why it matters
It is a vital part of Nigeria's infrastructure because it handles the power supply for the country's busiest economic hub. Its efficiency affects the productivity of millions of people.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with the companies that generate the electricity, as Ikeja Electric only distributes it to the end user.
