Green Bay Packers
In short
The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, competing in the NFC North division of the NFL.
In plain words
They are one of the oldest teams in American football. Unlike most teams owned by billionaires, the Packers are owned by their community through a non-profit structure.
A simple example
A local resident can buy a share of the team, making them a part-owner rather than a customer.
Why it matters
Their unique community-ownership model is rare in major professional sports. They also play at the historic Lambeau Field, which is a landmark in American sports culture.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse them with the Green Bay Bayers, which is not a professional football team.
