Falcons Kicker
In short
The Falcons kicker is the specialist player responsible for kicking field goals and extra points for the Atlanta Falcons NFL team. Following a 30-23 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5, the team's kicking performance remains a key factor in their recent results.
In plain words
This player kicks the ball through the goalposts to score points. They usually come onto the pitch when the team gets close to the opponent's end zone but cannot score a touchdown.
A simple example
If the Falcons drive down the field but the play stops near the goal line, the kicker attempts a field goal to add three points to the score.
Why it matters
Kickers can decide the outcome of close games, especially in overtime situations like the recent match against Baltimore. In fantasy football, their performance is a major factor for weekly scoring.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse the Falcons kicker with a punter, who kicks the ball away to give the opponent bad field position.
