Euroleague
In short
The EuroLeague is the highest level of professional men's club basketball in Europe. It features twenty top teams competing for the most prestigious title on the continent.
In plain words
It is a special league for the best basketball clubs in Europe. Instead of everyone being able to join through regular promotion, many teams have long-term licences to stay in the competition.
A simple example
A club like Real Madrid plays against other top European teams in a season-long tournament to reach the final playoffs.
Why it matters
It brings together the finest talent outside of the NBA. Winning this competition is considered the greatest achievement for a European basketball club.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with the EuroBasket, which is a tournament for national teams rather than individual clubs.
