Dragon Ball Super
In short
A Japanese manga series written by Akira Toriyama and illustrated by Toyotarou that follows Son Goku's adventures after the defeat of Majin Boo. The series is currently on hiatus following the death of its creator in March 2024.
In plain words
It is a sequel to the original Dragon Ball story. It shows Goku gaining the power of gods and travelling to different universes. The story takes place during the ten-year gap in the original series.
A simple example
Goku meets Beerus, a god of destruction, which leads him to discover much stronger levels of power than he ever had before.
Why it matters
It expanded the Dragon Ball universe by introducing gods, multiple universes, and new forms of combat. It remains one of the most popular modern continuations of a classic franchise.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with the original Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z, which take place earlier in the timeline.
