Diarrhea
In short
Diarrhoea is the condition of having three or more loose, liquid, or watery bowel movements within a single day.
In plain words
It is when your poo is very watery and you need to go to the toilet frequently. It often happens for a few days and can make you lose too much water from your body.
A simple example
If a person goes to the bathroom four times in one afternoon with very watery stools, they are experiencing diarrhoea.
Why it matters
It can lead to dehydration, which is a serious loss of body fluids. If left untreated, severe dehydration can cause a fast heart rate or loss of consciousness.
Easy to mix up
It is often confused with constipation, which is the opposite problem of having difficulty passing hard stools.
