Copa Do Brasil 2026
In short
The 2026 edition of Brazil's premier knockout football tournament is currently in its final stages. The competition features clubs from all states across the country competing for a major national trophy.
In plain words
It is a massive cup competition where teams play each other to knock them out. Unlike the league, one bad game can end a team's season. The winner gets a large cash prize and a spot in the South American Libertadores.
A simple example
A small club from a rural state might play against a giant like Flamengo in a single match. If the small club wins, they move forward while the big club goes home.
Why it matters
It offers a direct route to international glory and massive financial rewards for smaller clubs. The knockout format creates high drama and unpredictable results.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this with the Campeonato Brasileiro, which is a long league season rather than a knockout tournament.
