Centre De Donnees
In short
A centre de donnees is a physical facility used to house computer systems and associated components like telecommunications and storage systems.
In plain words
It is a specialised building designed to keep computers running safely. These buildings have extra cooling, backup power, and high security to protect digital information.
A simple example
A large bank uses a centre de donnees to store all its customers' account details and process transactions 24 hours a day.
Why it matters
Most modern services like banking, social media, and streaming rely on these centres to function. Without them, the internet and digital services would stop working.
Easy to mix up
It is often confused with a cloud service, but the cloud is actually just software running on hardware inside these physical centres.
