Caricaturiste
In short
A caricaturiste is an artist who creates exaggerated drawings of people to highlight their most recognisable features.
In plain words
This artist draws portraits that look funny or strange. They make certain parts of a person, like a large nose or big eyes, much bigger than they really are. The goal is to make the person instantly recognisable through humour.
A simple example
A caricaturiste might draw a politician with an enormous chin and tiny ears to make a joke about their appearance. This makes the drawing more entertaining than a normal photograph.
Why it matters
Caricatures are used in political cartoons to criticise leaders and in street art to entertain crowds. They turn a simple likeness into a powerful tool for satire or comedy.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse a caricaturiste with a portrait artist, who aims to draw a person accurately and beautifully.
