Bjp
In short
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a major Hindu nationalist political party in India that has been in power since 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In plain words
It is one of the largest political groups in India. The party follows an ideology called Hindutva, which focuses on Hindu culture and national identity.
A simple example
A voter in an Indian state might cast their ballot for a BJP candidate to support the party's current national policies.
Why it matters
As the ruling party, its decisions shape the laws, economy, and social fabric of India. It is a dominant force in both national and state-level politics.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with the Indian National Congress, which is its primary political rival.
