Battlestar Galactica
In short
An American science fiction media franchise featuring space travel and battles against robotic enemies. It includes several television series, books, and games created by Glen A. Larson and later reimagined by Ronald D. Moore.
In plain words
It tells stories about humans fleeing from killer machines in space. The characters travel on large warships while trying to find a new home.
A simple example
In the 2004 series, a group of human survivors travels across the galaxy on a ship called Galactica to escape the Cylons.
Why it matters
The franchise is famous for changing how science fiction is told on television. It uses space battles to explore deep themes like politics, religion, and what it means to be human.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with Star Wars, which also features space battles but focuses on a different mythology.
