Afc Champions League
In short
The AFC Champions League Elite is the premier continental club football tournament for the top-tier teams in Asia. It is organised by the Asian Football Confederation and features the best clubs from across the continent.
In plain words
This is a massive football competition where the best clubs from different Asian countries play against each other. The winner is crowned the champion of Asia. It is the highest level of club football in the region.
A simple example
A top club from the Saudi Pro League might play against a leading team from the Japanese J1 League to decide who is the best in Asia.
Why it matters
It allows Asian clubs to prove their dominance on a continental scale. Winning the trophy brings huge prestige, prize money, and international recognition to a club and its nation.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this with the AFC Asian Cup, which is a tournament played by national teams rather than individual clubs.
