A Fazenda
In short
A Fazenda is a Brazilian reality television programme where celebrities live together on a farm. It is based on a Swedish format and airs on RecordTV.
In plain words
Famous people move to a farm and live away from modern luxuries. They must complete farm chores and compete in challenges to avoid being voted out by the public.
A simple example
A singer might have to wake up early to feed the cows and collect eggs. If they fail to work hard, other contestants might vote them off the show.
Why it matters
It is one of the most popular reality shows in Brazil. It provides massive entertainment and generates significant advertising revenue for the network.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse it with Big Brother Brasil, which focuses on house life rather than farm life.
