2026 Ballon D Or
In short
The 2026 Ballon d'Or is the 70th annual football award presented by France Football to recognise the best players from the 2025–26 season. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in London on 26 October 2026.
In plain words
This is a trophy given to the most talented football player in the world. This year, the winner is chosen based on how they played between August 2025 and July 2026. It is one of the most prestigious honours in the sport.
A simple example
A striker who scores many goals and wins major trophies during the 2025–26 season would be a top candidate for this award.
Why it matters
It defines who the best individual player in world football is for that period. Winning it brings immense fame and historical prestige to a player's career.
Easy to mix up
Do not confuse this with the FIFA Best Men's Player award, which is organised by a different governing body.
